Low-poly girl with a low-poly attitude

Awesome stuff. I was wondering what program do you use for those low poly models?

Thanks! I use Blender for modeling and GraphicsGale for texturing :)

Another low poly model! :D (Tough it’s pushing 850 tris so I probably need to work on my optimization skills)

Was inspired by Kenneth Fejer’s super awesome low poly models and decided to try learning how to do stuff like that. Not super happy with it but I think it turned out alright :D

Also I literally just realized I forgot to add rear-view mirrors whoops!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I’m currently redoing most of the code (and even some of the basic design) I’ll hopefully be back on track with daily updates later this week

Also just want to say thanks to all my followers, all you 47 out there woo!

I’ve started working on the interface!
…
Next update will hopefully be more exciting!!

Hey huge fan of your work, what program do you create your sprites with

I’m using GraphicsGale and it’s pretty damn solid! :)

I didn’t do anything friday and I didn’t accomplish anything monday!

I’ve been experimentating with different styles for the sprites but I decided to just go with the super simple style I’m used to since it is super simple to animate, even from different angles (which is super difficult for me when working on more complex sprites)

People familiar with the development of Mountain of Debt will recognize the sprite is almost exactly the same as the one that used to be the player character before we got an awesome sprite artist on board

Gameplay Overview

This is just a brief overview, almost nothing of this is actually implemented yet but I just wanted to give you a vague idea on what I’m actually working towards!

The Idea

As a fan of 4X games like Civilization, Space Empires and Dominions 3

SRPGs like Disgaea and Final Fantasy Tactics

and Tactical Strategy Games like X-Com

I wanted to create a game that combined the replayability and scope of a 4X game, with the combat of a SRPG game but also make the combat as lethal and exciting as X-Com!

I’m aiming to have the 4X part of the game relatively simple and straightforward and focusing more on the combat aspect!

The game will be playable singleplayer against the AI, which will be a more fast paced experience but you will also be able to play Multiplayer against one or more players which can range from days to months (I’m using the multiplayer model that Wordfeud/Words with Friends uses on the mobile platform and will also allow cross platform multiplayer between PC, Mac, Android and iPhone)

Gameplay

When you first start the game, you create your avatar! You can either make him a physical powerhouse that will wage war on the front lines alongside your troops or make him a adept magic user that just relaxes in his castle

After that you will be presented with a world map and you will start out with a small town!

To grow your town, you will need to capture tiles that grant various resources (Lumber, Ore, Food etc) and connect them by making roads!

To capture a tile, you direct squads to the desired tile and if the tile is not captured you will enter a Tactical Battle (This is the stuff I’ve been working on the past couple of weeks) and battle with whatever wildlife/monsters guard that tile! If you win the battle the Squads participating in the battle will gain experience points, leveling them up and might make them eligible for an upgrade (A Soldier squad can become a Knight squad for instance)

On every tile you can build up to 8 buildings, which can range from lumber mills, town centers (which will make the tile the center of a town) to towers and walls (which is excellent for archers and stuff once other players/wildlife starts attacking)

Also just a quick note that Generals and the Avatars levels and equipment won’t carry over between games! Hopefully this won’t be a huge deal since you can make the game as short/long as you want (Want to generate a world that’s 1000x1000 tiles and will take months to complete? no problem! Want to do a 3x3 tile world that might take 30 minutes? sure go ahead)

Turn Flow

First you have to choose what you want to build on each tile you own, then you give your military units commands (Defend or Move)

This phase is done simultaneously by all players, and once all players have ended their turns the game calculates where all the units are going, and if several players end up on the same tile a battle ensues between the units on the tile!

The battle is then played out in a turn based fashion, and once all battles are resolved a new turn starts!

Combat

The meat of the game is the combat! At the start all your units will be very fragile and one stab/arrow to the wrong spot will kill them, but they will slowly become stronger and stronger as their equipment gets better and skills develop! This means stuff like having elevation advantage and taking cover will be a huge deal!

Customization

The idea is to let you create your own nations which you then can choose between at the start of a game! You’ll be able create your own squads which is a general and his/her soldiers, the general will be as customizable as your avatar but will have lower base stats while the soldiers will only have their uniform customizable (which is, well, uniform across all the soldiers in the squad)

The game will then let you recruit one of the squads in game, and once you run out of squads you can either opt to create new ones on the spot or just let the game generate one for you.

You’ll also be able to import your own emblem which will be displayed on banners in your towns and the standard carried by the squads’ standard bearers

I’m also thinking about ways to make buildings customizable, not sure how yet!
